![]() I looked at a previous model of this in a store and thought it looked the best of the gaming laptops. The newer has MUCH worse values because of 144Hz screen. IPS Coverage: 100% sRGB, 98% NTSC, 100% AdobeRGB Max brightness in the middle of the screen: 324 cd/m2 on power I asked Dell to send data, will see if I get anything HD and QHD are TN screens so must be bad. ![]() Any ideas?Ĭontrast ratio of 900-to-1, managed to render 98 percent of the AdobeRGB Currys is one decent, place but not great. I live in United Kingdom in Leicestershire. So would be great to know if anyone has worked with newer laptops that have a good screen. The trick is that many of the screens are really poor. Sadly I do not have time to wait until 2019, but need to get one within a month. And some cannot even display the full sRGB!īasically what I found is that you can get 6 core, 128GB RAM, 6TB SSD and a 1080 GTX card in a laptop. The problems is that most fast laptops are made for gamers and have 144Hz screens. I found several laptops that have 1080 GTX card in them which is promising. Above all I want to be able to look at the files to see if they are good enough or we need to shot more. I do not mean to do involved grading, more like rough cuts and mostly organizing media. The GPUs generally do not suffer as much from heat, it is the CPU that is the main problem.ĥ. Some companies use special liquid cooling paste on the CPUs that can make about 10 degrees improvement in temperature, sometimes more.Ĥ. There is also a 6 core i7 that is pretty similar in performance to the i9.ģ. Pretty much no laptop can handle the heat, however if you go for a bit thicker laptops, so not the slim, temperature is better. There are i9 CPUs, but on all slim laptops they become very hot. ![]() Realistically I am not expecting realtime, but well maybe quarter debayer.Ģ. Jarred also said that older GPUs should have a strong improvement. They showed an example with a 6 core and a Quadro and it could play 8k in realtime. This should make it considerably faster to work with Red files on a laptop. In December Red will move all debayer to the GPU from the CPU. I have read up extensively about both GPUs and CPUs. It is mostly the display that I need help with. I noticed there are laptops with i9 processor, but very pricey. DR and Fusion work great on it too.ĮDIT: My information is a bit outdated. After having good experience with Acer, I bought Acer's Predator. I bought it for $1200, although Acer still sells it for $1400. Costco was offering a deal 2 years ago on it. Having said that, I had been using Acer Aspire v17 Nitro, 256GB SSD, 1TBG HHD, i7, 4K UHD display, 16 GB RAM and GeForce 980M 8 GB vRAM. I9 in a laptop? I believe no one offers it because Intel does not provide i9 for the laptops. I found an Alienware 17 R5 that has promising specs otherwise, but it is so hard to find a physical store where you can actually look at them. The best was a 17" Acer Helios in the store I visited. I also looked at an MSI GS65 and it had an even worse screen that was very flat and had a bit strange colors. It could not even display highlights properly (the 144Hz 1080p screen). They do not have to be amazing, but I looked at a few 15 inch laptops like the Razor 15 and the image quality was really bad. However I worry about the quality of their displays. I mostly looked at gaming laptops since they are powerful. I'm looking at getting a new laptop to use on our trips for working with Red files, mostly in Davinci.Ħ Core CPU. We can always hope, that at the same time they will improve the total laptop cooling designs. All the manufacturers was very fast to introduce models with it, but only a few of then improved the cooling.īut sometime in 2019 will we see new laptop Graphics Cards. Intel introduced the 6 cores mobile CPU's with higher performance generating more heat. But as I see the laptop market for 2018, was it not normal. For a couple of week ago did I read this test: 'The Intel Core i9-8950HK runs fastest on this laptop' I don't know anything about RED files expect that they require the most powerful CPU's possible. If you click on the brand and type number do you come to a very detailed review, with the advantages and disadvantages of that particular laptop.Īnd I personally don't like the Schenker/Clevos as they are more noisy that the rest. I like the work done by Notebookcheck and they have i page called The Best Notebook Displays. May be it will be an advantage if you tell us where you live? I like you idea that you want to see the display before you select which laptop you want.
