Funnily enough it essentially is a creature with a 6 mana profit.A community for passionate EDH players to discuss the competitive meta of the format. ] - This is an interesting card, as it is all the colours on an artifact. ] - Similar to All Suns' Dawn, but allows you to tutor 5 cards, for just 8 mana. ] - Great recursion, especially when you are bringing back 5 cards for 5 mana. ] - Provides a Chromatic Lantern effect for all your creatures, while allowing you to cast value creatures from the top of your deck: pure card advantage. Just what you need for 5-colour fatty goodstuff. ] - Provides protection from counterspells, while also giving your creatures trample. It is essentially a free spell, as it puts the counters right back to Ramos. ] - The Soul of the World is great for Ramos, as Ramos' ability fits perfectly into the casting cost. Effectively stops you getting mana screwed for the rest of the game. ] - Provides inherent protection for Ramos, as long as he has a counter on him, as well as any dethrone triggers on your other creatures. ] - Becomes 3 spells for 8 (value), all providing Ramos with a heap of counters (cascade casts spells), and provides your creatures with haste (who doesn't like that?). I mean, it wasn't a good deck, but it was great. I once got to turn my whole board into Sun Titans. The 5c Nexus deck, on the other hand, was delightful. ![]() It felt like a clunky combo deck with no interaction. I've played both Primal Surge all permanents and 5 color Nexus nonsense, and I have to say, Primal Surge was one of the more boring decks I've built. Now, I'd encourage you to give it a brew and see what happens, but I think the two gameplans don't mesh well together. But Maelstrom Nexus doesn't help that gameplan, nor does the angel. No muss, no fuss, and not particularly interesting. The biggest issue, though, is that Primal Surge doesn't let you wallow in value the way Maelstrom Nexus does. There are some big demons that tutor, but reanimating them is awkward in an all-permanent deck (not impossible, just awkward). You could maybe do some cute birthing pod things, but in five colors you can just make birthing pod win outright, so that's silly. Bringer of the Black Dawn is hilarious, Liliana Vess and mono-b Sidisi are fine, and then things get sketchy. The other problem with Primal Surge is that you're reliant on permanents to find it. One of the biggest issues with Primal Surge is that, y'know, it costs ten mana. I think Ramos seems very reasonable for a Primal Surge gameplan.
